The Hazard Bulldogs moved their record to 11-0 on the season by defeating Russell County, 77-63, on Thursday in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic in Gatlinburg, TN. Then, the Bulldogs got a big surprise when they pulled into their hotel and was able to meet country-folk music star Oliver Anthony (pictured).
After a nip and tuck first half, Hazard found itself tied 18-18. Then, the Bulldogs held a slim 36-35 lead at the half. Hazard was able to gain some breathing room and held a 53-45 lead heading into the final frame. The Bulldogs stretched it out from there.
Evin Eversole had a monster game for Hazard with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Nick Ratliff fired in 8 points. Daulton Combs and Tucker Johnson scored 5 points each. Trace Kincaid netted 3 points. Kenyon Higgins chipped in 1 point.
Hazard next plays Caldwell Academy, NC on Friday in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic at 5:30 pm.
