The Phelps Lady Hornets finished with a 2-1 record over the weekend in the Big H BBQ Christmas Bash over the weekend in Cherokee, TN.
“I want to thank the AD of Cherokee high School and their staff for putting on a great tournament this year,” said coach Justin McCoy. “My girls really enjoyed it, and it was nice getting away from home and letting our young team spend some quality time together. I believe it has made them a little closer.”

The Lady Hornets (9-2) lost their first game of the tournament to Cosby, TN, 60-41, on Saturday.
Caleigh McCoy led Phelps with 22 points. Kylea Weddington had 10 points. Bailey Norman added 8 points. Kaylyn Slone finished with 1 point.
Phelps 62
University, TN 28
The Lady Hornets defeated University, TN, 62-28, on Monday.
Phelps was led by McCoy’s 27 points. Aerionna Pigamn followed with 10 points. Norman scored 9 points. Weddington dropped in 8 points. Slone scored 6 points. Charity Mounts chipped in 2 points.

Twin Springs, VA 42
The Lady Hornets finished up the tournament on Tuesday by defeating Twin Sprngs, VA, 48-42, on Tuesday.
McCoy led the way again with 21 points. Weddington followed with 13 points. Slone fired in 9 points. Norman added 3 points. Mounts finished with 2 points.
For her efforts, McCoy was also to the All-Tournament Team after scoring 70 points over three games for the Lady Hornets.
Phelps will not have any games for the rest of the year and will next play Hurley, VA at home on January 2, 2024.
