Austin Slone and Brayden Shpeherd had a big night at the Johnson Central Golden Eagles moved to 2-2 on the season with a 78-62 win at East Ridge on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 26-16 lead over the Warriors (3-1) after the first period. Johnson Central extended the lead to 51-36 at the intermission.
The lead continued to grow in the third period as Johnson Central stretched the lead out to 70-50. The Golden Eagles were able to maintain the lead from there.
Slone fired in 32 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Shepherd scored 29 points. Kyle Rose had 8 points and 9 rebounds. Andrew Meeks fired in 4 points. Jacob Grimm had 3 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Dawson Montgomery scored 2 points.
For East Ridge, Jackson Keene led the way with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Carter Damron had 13 points. Landon Robinson fired in 7 points. Keegan Wallace scored 5 points. Gavin Dameron and Gunner Ward added 3 points each. Isaiah Adkins finished with 2 points.
The East Ridge will next play on Moday at home in a 7:30 pm clash with Magoffin County.
Johnson Central will play on Wednesday against Middlesboro at noon in the Hyden Citizens Bank Classic at Leslie County.
