After defeating Magoffin County 69-45, the Tomcats were looking to improve to 2-1 on the season and get their 2nd straight victory of the young season. Using a balanced attack that seen 3 Tomcats score in double figures, the Tomcats would secure a 71-55 victory over South Point, OH.

Ashland would start strong and score 23 points in the first quarter, while holding South Point to 10. South Point would outscore the Tomcats 15-9 in the second quarter and would trail the Tomcats 32-25 at intermission.

It was a very tight, back-and-forth third quarter that would see the Tomcats outscore South Point, 19-18 to take a 51-43 lead into the final quarter. The Tomcats would clamp down defensively and held South Point to only 12 points in the 4th quarter, while putting up 20 to give Ashland the 71-55 victory.
