Eagles Win 5th Straight With Victory Over North Alabama

The Eagles of Morehead State hit the road on Sunday, December 10th and traveled south to Florence, Alabama in search of their 7th win of the season and their 5th straight win. The Eagles would not disappoint, and left Alabama with an 86-77 victory.

Four Eagles would score in double figures, led by Jordan Lathon’s 26 points. Drew Thelwell added 19 points. Riley Minix had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Kalil Thomas finished with 13 points. Eddie Ricks III had 9 points. Dieonte Miles had 4 points and Zach Iyeyemi had 1 point to round out the scoring for the Eagles.

The Eagles scored the first 4 points of the game. However, North Alabama would respond and go on a 12-3 run that was capped off by a Detalian Brown jumper that gave North Alabama the lead 12-7 at the 14:53 mark of the first half.

With 4:44 remaining in the first half, the game was tied 25-25. The Lions would close out the half with a 12-5 run that was started with a Will Soucie layup. Jacar Lane would cap off the run with a layup that gave the Lions a 37-30 lead at halftime.

The Eagles would take their first lead in the second half on a Riley Minix layup that put the Eagles in front 42-41. With the Eagles trailing 45-44, Minix would score again and draw a foul. After completing the three point play to put the Eagles back in front 47-45, the Eagles would never trail again in the game.

Jordan Lathon would hit a three to push the Eagles in front 50-45. Less than a minute later, Eddie Ricks III would sink a three to give the Eagles a 53-48 lead.

With 4:59 remaining in the game, Jacar Lane would hit 2 free throws to cut the Eagles’ lead down to 72-68. The Eagles would go on a 5-0 run capped off with a Jordan Lathon layup to give the Eagles a 77-68 lead.

After 2 free throws for the Lions, Jordan Lathon would score 5 straight to give the Eagles an 82-70 lead. Kalil Thomas would get a layup with 1:34 remaining to give the Eagles a 14-point advantage at 84-70.

The Lions would hit a last-second three that put the final score at 86-77 in favor of the Eagles.
