The Pantsville Lady Tigers started out their season with a win as they beat the Floyd Central Lady Jaguars, 85-67, on Friday in Paintsville.
After Paintsville took an early 17-8 lead after the opening the period, the Lady Tigers exploded for 27 points in the second quarter to take a 44-23 lead into the locker room at the intermission. That would be too much to overcome for the Lady Jaguars (0-2).
The Lady Tigers (1-0) were led by Emilea Preece with 28 points. Kayllyn Vannoy followed with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Karah Lafferty fired in 15 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Kylier Kinner had 14 points and 7 rebounds. Shay Music added 5 points. Emma Keeton and Annabelle Blankenship finished with 3 points apiece.
Riley Compton placed Floyd Central with 23 points and 22 rebounds. Chloe Crase added 15 points. Kaylee Hall followed with 14 points. Allie Adkins dropped in 5 points. Raegan Lafferty chipped in 4 points. Carmen Rackey, Annalecia Bentley and Maddy Engle finished with 2 points each.
Paintsville next travels to Betsy Layne on Monday for a 7:30 pm tip off.
Floyd Central will host Breathitt County on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
