In a back-and-forth game, neither team wanted to lose. East Carter would jump out to an early 6-0 lead. The Raceland Rams would fight back and tie the game at 10-10. East Carter would lead 17-16 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter would play out much the same way. Both teams would score back-and-forth. Every time the Raiders would make a run, the Rams would come back with a run of their own. East Carter would make a run before halftime and take a 32-25 lead into the break.
The Rams would come out of the locker room and make a quick 6-0 spurt that cut the Raiders lead down to 32-31.
With the game tied at 36-36, the Rams would go on a 7-0 run to give them a 43-36 lead.
Evan Goodman would hit a three for the Raiders. Then Gavin Sexton connected with a trey, and East Carter would pull to within 1 point heading into the 4th quarter, 43-42. With the game tied at 48-48, Raceland would go on an 7-3 run to take a 55-51 lead with a minute remaining in the game.
The Raiders would get the game to 55-54. Jacob Waller would step to the free throw line for the Rams with 14 seconds remaining and would sink both free throws to put the Rams in front 57-54.
The Raiders would turn to Evan Goodman. Goodman would deliver. With 1 second remaining, Goodman would connect from downtown to send the game into overtime, 57-57.
The Raiders would not score a basketball in the extra period. Instead, they would hit 9 of 12 free throws and pull out a 66-62 victory.
Christian Large would finish with 18 points, connecting with 4 made threes. Connor Thacker had 15 points. Conner Sutton had 14 points. Jacob Waller would finish with 8 points. Holden Topping had 3 points, Eli Canes and Gavin Vanlandingham each had 2 points for the Rams in the loss.
Evan Goodman led the way for the Raiders with 27 points. Blake Hall finished with 12 points. Ty Scott had 12 points. Tate Scott had 6 points. Gavin Sexton finished with 6 points. Quentin Johnson had a point, and William Burton finished with 2 points in the win.
