The Phelps Hornets got 36 points from Nick Knox as they picked up a 71-61 road win over the Jenkins Cavaliers to start the season 1-0 for the first time since 2018.
Knox shot an incredible 14-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He also pulled down 7 rebounds.
Tyler Weddington fired in 20 points and snagged 13 rebounds. Ethan Fields had 4 points and 6 rebounds. Gavin Hamilton had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Dylan Fields fired in 3 points. Owen Sullivan added 2 points and 6 rebounds. Reece Norman finished with 2 points and 5 rebounds. Ethan Wolford pulled down a rebound in the win.
Phelps will next play on Tuesday when they host Mingo Central at 7:30 pm.
Jenkins will next play on Thursday in the Hoopalachia Tournament at Twin Valley, VA.
