The Eagles would go into historic Freedom Hall looking to get back to .500 on the season. After falling 74-51 at Penn State, coach Spradlin and the Eagles would bounce back and get a 64-51 win on the road.
The Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead early after Kalil Thomas hit a jumper at the 18:05 mark of the first half. Bellermine got on the board with a Garrett Tipton three that cut the Eagles’ lead to 7-4.
Bellermine captured its first lead when Landin Hacker hit a three and put the Knights in front 12-9. The Knights would take their biggest lead of the half when Ben Johnson made a layup to put the Knights in front 19-15.
The Eagles would respond and go on a 7-1 run to end the first half. Kalil Thomas would hit a three to get the run started. Riley Minix would get a dunk with 10 seconds remaining in the half to put the Eagles up 22-19.
As time was running out in the half, Kalil Thomas fouled Alec Pfriem. Pfriem would hit 1 of 2 and the score at halftime was 22-20 in favor of the Eagles.
Coming out after halftime it was a back-and-forth game. Belleramine took a three-point lead (42-39) on three-point play by Garrett Tipton at the 9:21 mark in the 2nd half.
The Eagles would outscore the Knights 25-9 the rest of the way and held the Knights scoreless for the last 1:54 of the game.
The Eagles would build the lead to 8 at the 3:36 mark on a Trent Scott jumper that put the Eagles up 55-47. The Knights would chip away and cut the lead down to 4 (55-51) with 1:54 remaining in the game.
The Eagles would close the game on a 9-0 run that got started on two made free throws by Drew Thelwell. Kalil Thomas would sink a three to push the lead to 60-51. Thomas would cap off the run by making a layup with 23 seconds left that would provide the final score of 64-51.
Thomas would lead the Eagles in scoring with 20 points. Riley Minix added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Drew Thelwell finished with 10 points and 6 assists. Dieonte Miles had 6 points and 10 rebounds. Trent Scott had 8 points and Jordan Lathon had 4 points for the Eagles in the win.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd when they host Midway. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
