Former area Standouts Keian Worrix and Jeremy Dillon both gave major contributions in UPike’s 69-67 win over the Milligan Buffaloes on Saturday at UPike Gym.
Worrix started and had 10 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 3 steals. He was 4-of-6 from the floor, including 1-of-2 on 3-point field goals. Dillon came off the bench and had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. He shot 4-of-7 from the floor, including 1-of-4 on 3-point attempts.
The Bears (1-1) jumped out of the gate quickly and held a 42-30 lead at the intermission. However, Milligan (1-1) battled back in the second half and outscored UPike, 37-27, to make it a close finish.
Isaac Stanback led the way for UPike with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks. Korbin Spencer followed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Kyonte Thomas fired in 6 points and dished out 5 assists. Bradley Bunch had dropped in 5 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Keynan Cutlip and Eloge Ntumba finished with 2 points each.
Milligan was paced by Follie Bogan and Finn McClure with 15 points apiece. Sam Gold fired in 10 points.
UPike will next host Kentucky Christian on Tuesday at Appalachian Wireless Arena. The opening tip is set for 7:30 pm.
