West Virginia Playoff Preview: Panthers Look To Claw Knights

The 7th seed (Class A) Tug Valley Panthers open up their postseason run on Friday when they take on the 10th seed Tyler Consolidated Knights at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck.

For the Panthers (8-2), Bryson Elia will start his third-consecutive game at the quarterback position in place of the injured Preston May. Elia has completed 22-of-32 passes for 271 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception. Elia has also carried the ball 130 times for 1,076 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has 25 catches for 450 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Joining Elia in the backfield will be Adam Slone. So far this season, he has 33 carries for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Cameron Slone leads the Panthers in receptions with 30 for 449 yards and 9 touchdowns. Buddy Marcum has 16 catches for 268 yards and 7 touchdowns. Ashton Davis has 20 receptions for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brady Brewer has 12 catches for 194 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Knights (8-2) are led by a strong running attack featuring Sean Winfrey. Last week, Winfrey ran 41 times for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 27-13 win over Doddridge County.
