Friday Night Football Playoff Preview: Lawrence County Travels To Rockcastle County

The Lawrence County Bulldogs (8-3) hits the road this week when they travel to Mt. Vernon, KY to take on the Rockcastle County Rockets (10-1). The Rockets are winners of 6 straight games and their only loss this season was a 2-point loss to Paris. The Bulldogs have won 2 straight games and 4 of their last 5.

The Rockets feature a high-powered offense that is averaging 43.9 points per game this season. The Rockets are allowing their opponents to score an average of 19.3 points per game. Rockcastle County has a very balanced offensive attack. The Rockets average 191.4 passing yards per game and 211.2 rushing yards per game for a total of 402.6 total offensive yards per game.

The Rockets are led by senior quarterback, Tucker Warren. Warren is a dual threat QB. Warren has completed 114 of 170 passes this season for 1,894 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns, while only throwing 3 interceptions this season.

Warren also leads the Rockets’ rushing attack. Warren has ran the ball 116 times for 997 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.

Anthony Goodin has 51 carries for 381 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns for the Rockets this year. Christian Larkey has 33 carries for 263 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns this season.

Caleb Moore is one of Warren’s favorite targets in the passing game. Moore has 40 receptions for 795 yards and has caught 15 touchdown receptions. Christian Larkey has 29 receptions for 520 yards and 6 touchdown receptions. Isaiah Jackson has 33 receptions that has resulted in 438 yards and 6 touchdown receptions.

The Rockets defense has been impressive all season as well. The Rockets have recorded 12 interceptions this season and have returned 5 of those 12 for touchdowns. The defense also has returned two fumble recoveries for touchdowns.

The Lawrence County Bulldogs enter the game averaging 27.5 points per game. The Bulldogs also feature a very impressive and stout defense. The Bulldogs are only allowing their opponents to score an average of 13.1 points per game. In fact, the Bulldogs have only allowed 20 or more points twice this season, and the most they have allowed was 22 points to Boyd County.

The Bulldogs tend to rely on their run game to control the pace of the game and to control the clock. The bulldogs are averaging 204.7 rushing yards per game and have scored 27 rushing touchdowns this season.

Cody Crum leads the rushing attack with 147 carries, good for 1,020 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. William McDavid has 104 carries for 570 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. Caven Williams has 30 carries for 367 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Bulldogs’ senior QB, Talan Pollock has completed 81 of 170 passes for 1,276 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns. However, he has thrown 8 interceptions this season.

Carlo Chicko has 34 receptions this season, which is good for 393 yards and 4 touchdown receptions. Dalton Runyons has 15 receptions for 357 yards and 4 touchdown receptions. Logan Ratliff has 2 touchdown receptions. Kaden Johnson has 3 touchdown receptions for the Bulldogs this season.

The Bulldogs will look to limit turnovers and control the game on the ground. Will the Bulldogs’ defense be able to slow down the high-powered offense of the Rockets.
