West Virginia Playoff Preview: Miners Host Colts In First Round Match Up

The 7th seed Mingo Central Miners will look to pick up a big playoff win this weekend, but standing in their way will be the Philip Barbour Colts.

The Miners (8-2) will be led into battle by quarterback Chris Ross. Ross has completed 99-of-170 passes for 1,531 yards, 18 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He also has 87 carries for 351 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Dylan Vance leads the Mingo Central rushing attack with 1,012 yards and 7 touchdowns on 104 carries. He also has 18 catches for 327 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Miners’ receiving corps is led by the duo of Aidan Burke and Malaki Sheppard. This season, Burke has 34 catches for 507 yards and 6 touchdowns. Sheppard has 505 yards and 7 touchdowns on 28 receptions.

Philip Barbour (8-2) is led by quarterback Kaden Humphreys. So far this season, he has completed 50-of-95 passes for 1,203 yards, 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also has 122 carries for 821 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Leading the Colts in rushing is Nathaniel Hulver. For the season, Hulver has 1,232 yards and 21 touchdowns on 156 rushing attempts.

Cameron Bennett is the team’s leading receiver with 548 yards and 8 touchdowns on 16 catches.
