The Perry County Central Commodores welcomed the Lincoln County Patriots to Perry County this past Friday for the 1st round of the playoffs. The Commodores would not allow the Patriots to come into Perry County and steal one from the home team. The Commodores would prevail with a 56-35 victory, in a high-scoring matchup.
The Commodores would use a huge scoring output in the 2nd quarter to pull away from the Patriots. With the game tied at 7-7 after the first quarter, Perry Central would go to work and put up 28 points in the 2nd quarter. The Commodores would lead 35-14 at halftime.
Both teams would each score 21 points apiece in the 2nd half. Perry Central would outscore Lincoln County 42-14 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to put the game out of reach.
The Commodores would use a balanced offensive attack to run past the Patriots.
The Commodores ran 40 offensive plays and racked up 451 yards of offense and scored 8 touchdowns.
Kizer Slone completed 11 of 17 passes for 244 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 INT. Slone connected with Noah Kilburn 4 times for 92 yards and 3 touchdown receptions. Tyler Robinson had 3 receptions for 58 yards and 1 touchdown reception. Derrick Fields had 3 receptions for 66 yards.
Seth Jackson was an absolute machine for the Commodores. Jackson carried the ball 19 times for 170 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. Chancey Hurley had 4 carries for 37 rushing yards.
The defense was led by Phoenix Eddington and Jackson Deaton. Eddington and Deaton had 12 tackles each in the win. Colin Combs finished with 10 tackles. Kayden Haddix and Tyler Smith each came up with a fumble recovery for the Commodores’ defense. Haddix would also get an interception in the win.
Perry County Central (7-4) will now travel to Boyle County (11-0) this coming Friday, Nov. 10th for the 2nd round playoff game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
