The “Dawg Pound” was rocking Friday night when the Bulldogs of Lawrence County welcomed the Knox Central Panthers to town.
The Bulldogs would jump on the Panthers early. William McDavid would run in the game’s first score from 5 yards out and after the PAT, the Bulldogs led 7-0. The Panthers would fight back. Steve Partin would break free for a 15-yard touchdown run. The PAT was unsuccessful and the Bulldogs were up 7-6. From there, the Bulldogs would take over and send the Panthers home licking their wounds.
McDavid would score his 2nd touchdown, this time a 7-yard touchdown run. After the successful 2-point conversion, the Bulldogs lead was extended to 15-6.
The Bulldogs would score again before halftime. This time, Cody Crum got in on the scoring action with a 2-yard touchdown run. After the PAT, the Bulldogs were up 22-6.
Lawrence County would completely dominate the 2nd half. Caven Williams broke free for a 66-yard touchdown run. McDavid would then score his third rushing touchdown of the game and at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Bulldogs were up 36-6.
The Bulldogs would score once more in the 4th quarter. Talan Pollock would punch it in from the 5-yard line and the final score would be 43-6 with the Bulldogs advancing to the next round of the playoffs.
Steve Partin would carry the ball 22 times for the Panthers, and finished the game with 78 yards and a touchdown. Mason Griffin completed 14 of 26 passes for 97 yards and threw 2 INTs.
Cody Crum would finish the game with 12 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Caven Williams had 4 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. William McDavid had 8 carries for 56 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Talan Pollock completed 7 of 15 passes for 70 yards in the win.
Lawrence County (8-3) will now travel to Rockcastle County (10-1) to take on the Rockets in the 2nd round of the playoffs this coming Friday, Nov. 10th.
