Miners Pound Mount View To Earn Home Playoff Game

The Mingo Central Miners secured the 7th seed in the Class AA playoffs with a 47-0 win over Mount View on Friday on Miner Mountain.

Mingo Central (8-2) wasted little time scoring as Amanti Lovett pounded the ball in from 1 yard out to make it 6-0. A few minutes later, Nathan Hynd scored on a 5-yard run. Chris Ross found Malaki Sheppard on the conversion pass to make it 14-0. Ross then threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Deucey Prater. Ross’ conversion pass to Aidan Burke made it a 22-0 lead. The Miners got one more score in the opening period as Ross connected with Sheppard on a 46-yard touchdown pass to make it 28-0.

The Miners kept the scoring up in the second quarter as Ross hit Aidan Burke on a 20-yard touchdown pass. Dylan Vance’s kick made it a 35-0 lead. Lovett added the last score of the half on a 39-yard run for a 41-0 lead.

Mingo Central got one more score in the second half on a 37-yard run from Bam Coleman.

Ross completed 11-of-16 passes for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brennon Harrison was 1-of-1 for 12 yards.

Coleman had 2 carries for 53 yards and 1 touchdown. Lovett had 5 carries for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns. Vance had 3 carries for 32 yards. Hynd had 2 carries for 12 yards and 1 touchdown. Eli Blackburn had 1 carry for 3 yards.

Burke had 7 catches for 85 yards and 1 touchdown. Sheppard had 2 receptions for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. Prater had 1 catch for 13 yards and 1 touchdown. Donavon Valdelamar caught 1 pass for 13 yards. Davison Joplin caught 1 pass for 11 yards.

The Miners will host 10th seed Philip Barbour in the opening round of the playoffs. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm on Friday on Miner Mountain.
