Friday Night Football Preview: Miners Try To Earn Home Playoff Game

The 6th ranked (Class AA) Mingo Central Miners look to grab a home playoff game as they host Mount View in their regular season finale on Friday on Miner Mountain.

With a win, the Miners (7-2), will likely pick up a first round home playoff game with a win.

Quarterback Chris Ross will lead the Miner offense. Ross has completed 88-of-154 passes for 1,365 yards, 15 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Ross has also rushed 347 yards and 7 touchdowns on 86 carries.

Dylan Vance is Mingo Central’s leading rusher with 101 carries for 980 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also has 18 catches for 327 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Malaki Sheppard is the Miners’ leading receiver with 450 yards and 6 touchdowns on 26 catches. Aidan Burke has been just as big of an offensive threat with 27 receptions for 422 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Mount View (1-7) comes into the game after losing its last three games. In fact, Mount View has scored only 32 points all season. Going up against a strong Miner defense will be a tough hill to climb.

This game could be a huge moment for Mingo Central. A win could mean a home playoff game, and that would be quite the feat for a program that finished 4-6 last season.

The opening kick is set for 7 pm on Miner Mountain. If you can’t make it to the game, catch all of the action on D&D Sports Network.
