The UPike Bears women’s soccer team lost 2-1 in a game that was down to the wire against Milligan University at home.
The Bears had the game tied up until the 83’ when Milligan University got back on the scoreboard for the first time since 3’.
Milligan out shot the Bears, 4-2, in the first half. This put the Bears down 1-0 at the start of the second half. Milligan out shot the Bears again in the second half, 6-1. The Bears would make their one shot of the half, but they couldn’t hold Milligan off and ended up scoring in the final minutes to take a late lead. This would result in the 2-1 loss for the Bears. Brianna Fortman, Kylie Gollihue and Berkel Tibbs each had a shot in the outing. The one goal scored by UPike was from Gollihue. The goal was assisted by Anna Dudas.
UPike had 4 saves in the matchup from Kacy Zimmerman. She only had 2 goals allowed in 90 minutes of play.
The Bears will play again on the road on October 31st at 6p m at Milligan University. This is their first game of the postseason, Round 1 of the AAC Women’s Soccer Tournament, if they win they advance, but if they lose it’s all over. If UPike wins they will play again on November 4th the time is to be determined.
