Friday Night Football Preview: Raiders Host The Cardinals

Written By: JMF

Both teams are on extended winning streaks. The East Carter Raiders (7-2) have won 5 straight games, including a huge win over Russell last week to win the district championship. The Martin County Cardinals (5-4) have won 3 straight games. In those three games the Cardinals looked unstoppable.

The Cardinals rely on their rushing attack. On the season, the Cardinals have 2,301 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns. The Cardinals have 491 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns this season. The Cardinals are averaging 26.2 points per game this season and are only allowing 12.8 points per game.

Brock Messer leads the way for the Cardinals. Messer has 128 carries for 878 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. Aiden Horn has 70 carries for 511 yards and 7 touchdowns. Madden Miller has 79 carries for 509 yards and 5 touchdowns. Devan Maynard has 15 carries for 232 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Cardinals QB, Jackson Miller has completed 25 of 60 passes for 491 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Miller also has 45 carries for 102 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

The Martin County defense has been very impressive this season and will be put to the test in this game. East Carter comes into the matchup averaging 31.7 points per game. The Raiders are only allowing 20 points per game this season.

The Raiders rely heavily on Landon Yoak. Yoak has 131 carries this season for 849 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Bryer Holbrook and Ryland Pfau join Yoak in the rushing attack. Holbrook has 59 carries for 321 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. While, Pfau has 30 carries for 313 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Raiders’ QB, Quentin Johnson has completed 72 of 121 passes for 970 yards and 9 touchdowns, while only throwing 2 interceptions this season. Michael Hall has 29 receptions for 495 yards and 3 touchdown receptions this season. Gabe Roberts has 26 receptions good for 297 yards and 6 touchdown receptions.

In a battle of two very good defenses, which offensive unit will be able to perform well enough to lead their team to victory? Will homefield advantage prove to help the Raiders? Will the Cardinals be able to swoop in and steal a win on the road? You definitely want to head out to East Carter this Friday to see this game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
