Friday Night Football Preview: Lawrence County Welcomes Mason County To The Dawg Pound

Written By: JMF

The Lawrence County Bulldogs (6-3) are looking to bounce back after a tough loss last week to Boyd County. The Mason County Royals (6-3) had their 4-game winning streak snapped last week when they lost to Covington Catholic. Both teams are hungry for a win and looking to gain momentum heading into the playoffs.

The Royals enter this game averaging 207.6 passing yards per game and 105.7 rushing yards per game. The Royals are averaging 32.8 points per game and are allowing 19.7 points per game. However, in the three losses the Royals have this season, they are giving up an average of 41 points in those three games.

The Royals are led by senior QB, Keshaun Thomas. Thomas has completed 64 of 132 passes for 1,359 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. In addition to what Thomas has done in the passing game, he has also run the ball 66 times for 158 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns.

Landon Scilley has 25 receptions for 612 yards and 10 touchdown receptions this season for the Royals. Max Arrasmith has 13 receptions for 283 yards and 2 touchdown receptions. Cole Horch has 6 receptions for 261 yards and 3 touchdown receptions. Garryon McClain has 12 receptions for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Royals’ rushing attack is led by Trey Walker. Walker has 50 carries for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kenton Johnson has 49 carries for 234 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. CJ Authur, Hayden Horn, Bryce Moran, Teegin Routt, Leonard Avery, Micha Payne, and MeCaiyon Jackson each have a rushing touchdown.

The Bulldogs enter the game averaging 26.7 points per game and are only allowing 13.8 points per game. The Bulldogs’ defense has been consistent all season and has only allowed 20+ points two times this season. The Bulldogs offense has struggled in their 3 losses this season. In those three games, the Bulldogs have only averaged 6.7 points per game.

The Bulldogs are averaging 199.3 yards per game rushing. Cody Crum leads the rushing attack with 118 carries for 805 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. William McDavid has 81 rushes for 453 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Caven Williams has 22 carries for 274 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns.

The Bulldogs are averaging 133.9 yards per game passing this season. Senior QB, Talan Pollock has completed 66 of 140 passes for 1,052 yards and 13 touchdowns. Last week, Pollock had a tough game and threw 3 interceptions. Pollock is looking to bounce back this week and help lead his team to their 7th win of the season. Pollock also has 3 rushing touchdowns this season.

Pollock has thrown a touchdown reception to 7 different teammates. Carlo Chicko has 30 receptions for 356 yards and 4 touchdown receptions. Dalton Runyons has 11 receptions for 319 yards and 4 touchdown receptions. Kaden Johnson and Jake Derifield have 2 touchdown receptions each. Logan Ratliff, Cody Crum, and Abner Collinsworth each caught a touchdown reception.

Will the Bulldogs be able to get their offense going and score 30+ points? The Bulldogs are 6-0 this season when they score over 30 points. Will the Royals’ defense be up to the task and be able to stop the Bulldogs from scoring? Will the Bulldogs’ defense continue their consistency and hold the Royals to less than 15 points? This should be a very fun game to watch. You definitely want to head out to Louisa, KY this Friday, Oct. 27th, for this game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
