It’s always an important game in the Mountains when the Chapmanville Tigers and the Logan Wildcats face off in any sport. This Friday night is no different as Chapmanville (3-4) travels to their rival Logan (1-6) as the Tigers cling to hopes of making the playoffs. The Tigers must win out to qualify for the AA Playoffs in West Virginia, but the Wildcats hope to spoil their chances on Friday night from Willis-Nisbet Stadium in Logan, WV.
Chapmanville is coming off an 18-7 loss to Wayne that has the Tigers with their first losing record on the 2023 season. Logan is coming off a 62-0 loss to Nitro. Chapmanville leads the all-time series 13-9 and the Tigers have won the last 8 out of 9 matchups.
Chapmanville will come into the contest tomorrow with a young, injury-riddled ball club as starting quarterback Robert Cook will be out with a shoulder injury. Sophomore Nate Easterling will get the start at QB for the Tigers. The Tigers will have a number of other starters questionable for tomorrow’s contest according to Head Coach Zach Belcher. One key statistic to look at for the Tigers, when they have rushed for over 150 yards this season, they are 3-0. In their 4 losses, they have averaged only 72 yards on the ground.
Logan is looking to build some momentum toward the end of the season as their young roster continues develop. Sophomore Adam Baisden II is the leader passer as well as the leading rusher for the Wildcats and has already eclipsed 1,000 passing yards on the season. One key statistic to look at for the Wildcats, when they have forced one or more turnovers, they are 1-1 on the season with the one loss a very competitive game against Poca (26-20).
The Marshall University Marching Thunder will perform at halftime of the game tomorrow night. The Marshall University Marching Band is under the direction of Dr. Christopher Schletter and is preparing for their upcoming Tri-State Marching Championship on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
