Friday Night Football Preview: Raiders Looking For 4th Straight Win As They Host The Lions

The Raiders (5-2) could be known as the “Cat” slayers. They have defeated the Lions of Boyd County, the Wildcats of Bath County, and the Panthers of Fleming County. This week they host the Lions of Lewis County. Since beginning district play, East Carter has not lost a game (3-0). They look to extend their win streak to 4 games this week when they host Lewis County.

Lewis County (2-5) is looking to snap a 2-game losing streak. The challenge doesn’t get any easier for the Lions. The Lions are coming off back-to-back losses by large margins. The Lions have only scored 14 points in their last two games, and the Raiders have only given up 23 points in their last two games.

The Lions will be looking for a big game from both Ayden Cooper and Braedyn McGlone. McGlone has 86 carries for 420 yards rushing and 6 rushing touchdowns to lead the Lions’ rushing attack. Ayden Cooper has completed 81 of 173 passes for 973 yards and 8 touchdowns through the air.

Cooper’s favorite target, Julian Puente, has had an excellent season in the passing game. Puente has 49 receptions for 588 yards and 5 touchdown receptions on the season. McGlone, Jaidance Cottingham, Alex Russell, and Noah Johnson also have touchdown receptions this season.

The Lions are averaging 140.7 passing yards per game and 107.3 rushing yards per game this season. The Lions enter Friday night’s matchup averaging 20.1 points per game and are allowing 31.9 points per game defensively.

East Carter has looked very impressive all season. Their two losses are by a combined 11 points. They lost by 1 point in their season-opener, and then lost by 10 to Greenup County. The Raiders are averaging 31.3 points per game this season and are only allowing 21.9 points per game. They have only allowed more than 28 points 1 time this season.

The Raiders are led offensively by Landon Yoak. Yoak has 91 rushes for 623 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season. Yoak is averaging 89 yards rushing per game and 1.6 rushing touchdowns per game. Bryer Holbrook has 54 carries for 306 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Ryland Pfau has 23 carries for 130 yards and 2 rushing TDs. Pfau also has 2 TDs this season on kickoff returns. Gabe Roberts also has 2 kickoffs that he has returned for touchdowns this season.

The Raiders’ QB, Quentin Johnson has completed 64 of 104 passes for 859 yards and 9 TDs, while only throwing 2 INTs this season. Johnson is averaging 122.7 yards per game passing and 1.3 TDs pass per game. Gabe Roberts and Michael Hall are two features in the passing attack. Michael Hall has 26 receptions for 447 yards and 3 touchdowns. Gabe Roberts has 24 receptions for 276 yards and 6 touchdowns.

East Carter in very opportunistic defensively. On the season the defense has 8 interceptions and they have returned 2 of those interceptions for touchdowns. The defensive unit also has 4 forced fumbles and have 4 fumble recoveries on the season.

You will want to head out to Grayson, KY this Friday to watch and see if the Raiders can slay the Lions. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
