Written By: Logan Barker

The UPike Bears took the field against Kentucky Christian University this Saturday in an attempt to pick up win number five of the season. That is exactly what happened, UPike took down KCU, 3-1, and got their fifth win of the season.

Alex Ward was the first person to find the net as he scored 9 minutes and 54 seconds into the game. This was the only score of the entire first half. UPike outshot KCU 6-5 in the first half. The score was 1-0 at the break.

UPike started the half strong with a goal from Anthony Aguilar, assisted by Daron Baumann. This goal was responded to by Gage Bowling of KCU. It took KCU 68 minutes to get on the scoreboard for the first time, and it remained scoreless after that for the rest of the game. Not 45 seconds after KCU scored its first goal, UPike got the goal right back with Baumann, who just recorded an assist 20 minutes earlier, got on the scoreboard with a goal of his own.

The Bears played two goal keepers this game, Adam DiMillo and Jackson Samuel. DiMillo played 84 minutes and was able to get 7 saves with 1 goal allowed. Samuel played 5 minutes with 0 saves and 0 goals allowed.

UPike advances to 5-5-2 and will play on the road against Tennessee Wesleyan University this Tuesday on October 10th at 1 pm. UPike’s Volleyball team will also play the same team on the same day at 7 pm at home.
