Mingo Central Defeats Lincoln County On The Road

Written By: Logan Barker

The Miners traveled to Hamlin on Thursday night to play Lincoln County in a lights out performance, 3-2.

Mingo Central was without striker Blake Stacy and goal keeper Mason Hatfield. This wouldn’t matter though as Mingo Central came out with its sixth win of the season to advance to 6-7. This would make them 2-0 against Lincoln County and make it a season sweep for the Miners and first year head coach Brad Rawls.

Kendan Trent was able to get hat trick number 7 on the season with 3 goals on 6 shots. One of Trent’s goals was assisted by Christian Joplin, who also had 3 shots. Bella Hall and Tyler Coleman each put a shot on goal and Eva Monroe also had 1 shot.

Brody Dotson started at goal keeper for the Miners. This was his first start at goal keeper of the season. He was filling in for Hatfield who is still out due to a head injury he received at Scott. Dotson allowed 2 goals but had 13 saves. Dotson normally plays as back line defender but he had to step back and help the team in the goal, and that’s exactly what he did.

Mingo Central now advances to 6-7 on the season and will play Westside on Thursday at 7 pm on the Mountain for Senior Night. The Seniors representing the Soccer Team will be Joplin, Hatfield, Autumn White and Stacy.
