The Lawrence County Bulldogs were looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Belfry. The Magoffin County Hornets were looking to build off of their big win over Powell County. Magoffin would travel to Louisa in hopes of upsetting the home team Bulldogs. However, the Bulldogs were able to swat away the Hornets by a score of 35-14.
Lawrence County would strike first when Talan Pollock connected with Cody Crum for a 29-yard touchdown pass.
Trailing 7-0, Magoffin County would get on the scoreboard with a Ian McCarty 25-yard touchdown run that would end up tying the score 7-7.
Pollock would connect with Dalton Runyons for a 56-yard touchdown pass that would push the Bulldogs back into the lead 14-7.
Lawrence County would come out in the third quarter and extend their lead 22-7 after a Cavan Williams 12-yard touchdown run and a successful 2-point conversion. Cody crum would score for the Bulldogs on a 14-yard touchdown run that would push the lead to 28-7.
Magoffin County would score on a 2nd Ian McCarty touchdown run. This time he would record an 11-yard touchdown scamper to bring the score to 28-14.
Cody Crum would wrap up the scoring when he broke a 54-yard touchdown run that pushed the Bulldogs to the 35-14 lead and final score of the game.
Ian McCarty would lead the Hornets with 94 yards rushing on 21 carries and 2 TDs. Aden Barnett had 11 carries and 52 yards for the Hornets. Barnett also completed 4 of 13 passes for 41 yards.
The Bulldogs were led by Cody Crum who had 18 carries for 183 yards rushing and 2 rushing TDs. Crum also had 3 receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown reception. Cavin Williams would finish with 6 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown. Talan Pollock would complete 11 of 18 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs. Dalton Runyons finished with 1 catch for 56 yards and a TD.
Magoffin County (2-4) has a bye this week and returns to action on Oct. 20th when they travel to Estill County.
Lawrence County (5-2) will be back in action this coming Friday, Oct. 13th when they travel to Powell County (1-6). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
