Written By: JMF

In a battle of two teams that are both 1-5 on the season, only one team will be able to get a much-needed win. Bath County has lost 5 straight games since their season-opening win. West Carter has lost 2 straight since getting their first win of the season when they defeated Powell County.

West Carter could very easily be 6-0 right now if things would have gone just a little different for them. They have not lost a game this season by more than 10 points. They have lost 2 games by 1 point each, and all 5 of their losses has been by a combined 23 points. They hope a return to their home field will propel them to victory.

The Comets are led offensively by Dwaylon Dean. Dean is having a monstrous junior season. He has carried the ball 133 times for 1001 yards and 14 TDs. He is averaging 166.8 yards rushing per game and is averaging over 2 TDs per game rushing.

Comets’ QB, Hayden Hall has completed 35 of 87 passes for 507 yards, 2 TDs, and 7 INTs. The Comets offense is averaging 24.2 points per game.

The Comets’ defense is led by Payton Walked who leads the teams in tackles with 49 and he has recorded 2.5 tackles for loss. Ethan Bledsoe has 47 tackles and has an impressive 7 tackles for loss including 3.5 sacks. Tabor Tackett has 43 tackles including 5 tackles for loss. The defense is allowing 23 points per game.

The Wildcats of Bath County have struggled offensively all season. In their opener they put 20 points up, but since then they have not scored more than 8 points in any game. They will be looking to change that Friday night. The Wildcats are averaging 8.3 points per game this season.

The Wildcats rely heavily on the running game. Carter Hart has 72 rushes for 369 yards and 1 TD. He is averaging 73.8 rushing yards per game. QB, Cole Hart has completed 24 of 50 passes for 171 yards, 4 TDs, and 3 INTs. Cole also has 74 rushes for 106 yards and 1 TD.

Charles Wilson has caught 7 passes for 77 yards and 1 TD. Alan Bowling has caught 11 passes for 61 yards and 2 TDs.

The Wildcats’ defense is anchored by Carter Hart. Carter has a team-leading 46 tackles on the season. Cole Hart is second in tackles with a total of 32. Cole also has 1 interception on the season. The defense is allowing 37.7 points per game this season.

One of these two teams will get their 2nd win of the season. West Carter hopes to defend their home field and send the Wildcats back to Bath County licking their wounds. The Wildcats look to upset the Comets and send them spiraling into space. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at West Carter.
