In a battle of unbeatens in Lincoln County, the Harts Middle School Lions were able to come out on top as they defeated Guyan Valley 14-12 last Thursday night.
“It was a huge win for our kids and our program,” said Harts Head Coach Andy Bender. Harts used the arm and the legs of Archer Altizer to help lead them to victory. Altizer was 3 of 5 passing for 78 yards and threw a touchdown pass. He also had nine rushing attempts for 53 yards and the game deciding two point conversion.
Easton Bender and Dylan Farmer also had big games on the ground for the Lions. Bender finished with 14 rushing attempts for 109 yards and also had 1 reception for 48 yards which went for a touchdown. Farmer finished with 11 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Kyler Blair added 1 rushing attempt for 11 yards and one catch for 14 yards. Kayson Harless also added one catch for 16 yards.
The win puts the Harts Lions in the driver’s seat to host the Lincoln-Boone County Middle School Championship game at the end of the year. “We had one of our most physical games of the year and were able to come out on top,” Coach Bender stated. “This was a big game and winning helps us reach some of our goals, but we aren’t finished.”
