Aden Barnett threw three touchdown passes and rushed for two more scores as the Magoffin County Hornets zipped past the Powell County Pirates, 50-25, on Friday in Salyersville.
Barnett completed 5-of-7 passes for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 10 times for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Ian McCarty led the Hornets (2-5) in rushing with 166 yards and 1 touchdown on 19 carries. Braxton Montgomery had 5 carries for 59 yards. Russell Cruz had 1 carry for 5 yards.
Dayson Burchett caught 2 passes for 68 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cruz caught 1 pass for 41 yards. Jackson Gilliand had 1 reception for 20 yards and 1 touchdown. Trey Rudd finished with 1 catch for 3 yards.
For Powell County (1-5), Aiden Larrison completed 2-of-2 passes for 27 yards and 1 touchdown. He also rushed for 74 yards on 15 attempts.
Preston Spangler led all rushers with 223 yards and 3 touchdowns on 24 carries.
Tristan West-McKinney caught 1 pass for 25 yards. Tyler Miller had 1 reception for 2 yards and 1 touchdown.
Magoffin County will next travel to Lawrence County on Friday for a 7:30 pm contest.
Powell County will host Estill County on Friday at 7:30 pm.
