On Monday evening, Mingo Central traveled down the road to Barker Stadium in Chapmanville where they would meet the Tigers in a very close match up.
This game was needed from the Miners as they have a tough schedule ahead and needed to get back to a winning record.
The game started with a quick goal by Kendan Trent, Trent had 3 goals on the game and played very well. It wasn’t long after the first goal that he put another one back in the net. The first half was all Mingo, the Miners put 2 goals in the net and held Chapmanville to no goals the whole half. Mason Hatfield was on his A game as he had multiple saves in the first half.
Second half went a little differently. It started off with Trent netting his 3rd goal to get his 5th hat trick of the season, but then Chapmanville started to come back. This charge was lead by Seth Freeman and Jonathan Ferrell who both had a goal each and Stephen Stowers who had 12 saves on the outing. However, this was not enough to make the come back they was hoping for. Mingo Central was able to keep them from getting back in the goal and ended the game with a close 3-2 victory against Chapmanville.
This was a close game but Mingo Central was able to get the victory in a hard fought battle from Chapmanville. This should give them momentum heading into to the tough teams they have in the coming weeks. Chapmanville played very well and also should still have some momentum this week during their upcoming games.
Mingo Central (5-5) is now set to play against Pikeview this Saturday at 11 am while Chapmanville (8-5-1) will be taking on Sherman this Saturday at 12:30 pm.
