Scott Falls To Mingo Central, 6-0

Written By: Logan Barker

It was Senior Night for Scott this Thursday as they were set to play Mingo Central on the pitch at 7 pm.

Mingo Central (4-5) was coming off a 3-2 win against Chapmanville this past Monday and Scott (1-10) was coming off of a 8-0 loss against Nitro.

The game started off with a couple back and forth possessions which eventually led to Kendan Trent getting one in the net. That was Trent’s 20th goal of the season and he ended up getting 2 more in the net this game which got him to 22 goals on the season. He is now 6th in the state in goals this season. All 3 of Trent’s goals were assisted by Christian Joplin who had 4 assists on the night. Joplin continues to show his value and keeps coming out and playing hard every game.

Trent wasn’t the only one scoring for Mingo Central. Blake Stacy, Tyler Coleman and Caleb Simpkins also were able to get a goal each. This was both Caleb’s and Tyler’s first goal on the season.

This game was very one sided, Mingo Central was able to get 6 unanswered goals and Scott couldn’t get anything going for them. Unfortunately for the Miners, Mason Hatfield their Goal Keeper, went out of the game late in the second half due to receiving a hit In the head and will now be out at least a week on concussion protocol. Hatfield still was able to rack up 8 saves on goal before his injury. Autumn White stepped in for him while he was out and was able to get an additional 4 saves on goal.

Mingo Central advances to 5-5 on the season while Scott falls to 1-11. Mingo is set to play Pikeview this Saturday at home at 11 am for their next matchup while Scott is set to play Buffalo at home also at 11 am.
