This Saturday, Mingo Central traveled to James Monroe at 1 pm to go head to head with them on the pitch.
During this game, the Miners were missing their head coach Brad Rawls. Garrett Moore filled in for Rawls in his absence.
Mingo Central scored the first goal of the match when Kendan Trent was able to get on the stat sheet first with the first goal of the game. Trent had another good game with 2 goals, 1 assisted by Blake Stacy. This brings Trent’s total goals on the season to 11. James Monroe didn’t take that lightly though. They answered back with 3 straight goals and at the end of the half, they had taken a convincing 3-1 lead.
Mingo Central took the field once again once the second half started. Not long after the game resumed, James Monroe was able to get a quick goal, but the Miners answered right back with a goal of their own scored by Stacy under heavy coverage. He was able to stretch out and get the ball into the net. In the following minutes, Trent was able to get the final goal of the game for Mingo Central with a header that was assisted by Stacy. Before the game ended James Monroe was able to net one more goal and end the game with a score of 5-3 in the Maverick victory.
Mason Hatfield had 13 saves on goal. Caleb Simpkins was also able to get a save. Trent had 4 shots, Christian Joplin had 1 shot and Tyler Coleman and Stacy both had 3 shots each.
Mingo Central now falls to 3-5 on the season. The Miners will now play Thursday against Scott at home at 7 pm on Miner Mountain.
