Friday Night Football Preview: The Undefeated Tomcats Host The Struggling Vikings

Ashland Blazer (6-0) looks to continue its dominance this week when they host Rowan County (1-4). Rowan County is in desperate need of a win, but things do not get easier this week for the struggling Vikings.

Ashland Blazer is averaging 46.8 points per game. They have not scored less than 28 points all season. Over the past 5 games the Tomcats are averaging an impressive 50.6 points per game and haven’t scored less than 42 points in those games. Last week they put up 63 points against Greenup County.

Tomcats’ QB Labryant Strader has completed 33 of 54 passes for 691 yards and 9 TDs. Strader is averaging 172.8 yards per game passing and 2.2 TDs per game through the air. Strader is also averaging 30.2 yards per game rushing and has 4 rushing touchdowns.

Braxton Jennings leads an explosive rushing attack for the Tomcats. Jennings has 61 carries for 448 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. Seven different players have rushed for a touchdown this season for the Tomcats’ offense. The offensive unit is averaging 268.3 yards per game and has 26 TDs on the season.

Ashland Blazer’s defense is only allowing 16 points per game this season. The defensive unit has forced 8 turnovers this season. They have 5 interceptions on the season and recovered 3 fumbles. They have racked up 361 tackles including 21 tackles-for-loss with 7 sacks.

Rowan County comes in only averaging 14.6 points per game. The Vikings are coming off a bye week and are looking to snap a 2-game losing streak.

The Vikings’ offense is still looking for an identity. The Vikings have used 4 different quarterbacks this season. Abram Norden has completed 31 of 64 passes for 643 yards and 5 TDs but has also thrown 3 interceptions. The Vikings have thrown 6 interceptions this season.

The rushing attack has also struggled. The Vikings are averaging 115.6 yards per game rushing and have scored 5 rushing touchdowns. Jackson Hamilton has 242 yards and 2 TDs this season. JT Judd has 192 rushing yards and 3 TDs.

The defense is facing a very difficult task is trying to shut down the high-powered offense of the Tomcats.
