Two of the top teams in Class AA will slug it out on Friday when the 4th ranked Scott Skyhawks welcome the 5th ranked Mingo Central Miners.
Scott (5-0) is led by star quarterback Matt Frye. So far this season, Frye has completed 75-of-109 passes for 1,650 yards, 19 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He has also carried the ball 20 times for 154 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Preston Cooper leads the Skyhawks in rushing with 48 carries for 429 yards and 6 touchdowns. Carson Brinegar had 9 carries for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Brinegar is the team’s leading receiver with 32 catches for 648 yards and 8 touchdowns. Brayden Clark has 415 yards and 3 touchdowns on 16 catches. Isaiah Bush has 19 carries for 397 yards for 6 touchdowns.
Mingo Central (5-0) has a good quarterback of its own in Chris Ross. Ross has completed 53-of-81 passes for 811 yards, 10 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Ross also has 221 yards and 4 touchdowns on 42 carries.
Dylan Vance has been a weapon in the backfield for the Miners. Vance has 551 yards and 5 touchdowns on 44 rushing attempts. He also has 9 catches for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Aidan Burke is the team’s leading receiver with 287 yards and 3 touchdowns on 18 catches. Malaki Sheppard has 18 catches for 228 yards and 3 touchdowns.
This will likely be the most anticipated game in West Virginia this week. The winner of this game will gain a huge edge for a playoff berth and a high ranking. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm in West Madison.
