The West Carter Comets (1-4) are looking to bounce back after last week’s tough loss to county rival East Carter. The Russell Red Devils (3-3) are looking to win their second straight game after defeating Fleming County last week.
Don’t let the Comets record fool you. They have lost those four games by a combined 18 points, including two games they lost by 1 point each. West Carter could easily be 5-0 right now with the right bounces. Last week they were down 28-14 at one point in the game and came back to tie the contest at 28-28 before giving up a late TD and then throwing an interception on their final drive.
The Comets’ offense is powered by running back, Dwaylon Dean. Dean has ran the ball 110 times for 875 yards and 13 TDs on the season. He is averaging 175 yards rushing per game and over 2 rushing TDs per game.
QB Hayden Hall will look to bounce back from last week’s struggles. Last week he threw 3 INTs against East Carter. Prior to last week’s game he had only thrown 2 interceptions on the season.
Russell is looking to build off last week’s performance. The Red Devils’ QB, Ethan Pack had a stellar performance with 1 TD through the air and rushing for 2 more touchdowns. Pack has led the Red Devils all season. He has completed 42 of 78 passes for 499 yards and 8 TDs. Pack has also carried the ball 90 times for 404 yards and 3 rushing TDs.
The West Carter defense cannot just focus on stopping Pack. Andre Richardson-Crews has carried the ball 73 times for 411 yards and 4 TDs. The Pack and Richardson-Crews combo will look to carry the Red Devils to their second straight win and their 4th win of the season.
The Red Devils’ defense has only allowed more than 30 points 1 time this season. Their defensive unit is very opportunistic, having 10 interceptions on the season and recovering 2 fumbles. The defense will look to do keep Dean out of the endzone, which has proved to be a difficult task for defenses this season.
No doubt, this will be a barnburner this Friday at West Carter. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
