Lewis County was looking to get back on track after 2 straight losses. The Lions would roar and flex their muscles in their matchup with Bath County. Behind a strong offensive performance on the ground and a very impressive defensive performance, the Lions would defeat the Wildcats 50-8.
Lewis County would come out and dominate early, scoring 26 points in the 1st quarter. The Lions would come out after halftime and score 24 points in the 3rd quarter. Bath County’s lone score came in the 1st quarter.
Lewis County would be led by Braedyn McGlone. McGlone carried the ball 22 times for 115 yards and 3 TDs. Alex Russell carried the ball 9 times for 61 yards and 1 TD. The Lions’ QB, Ayden Cooper would complete 12 of 21 passes for 140 yards, and he ran the ball 7 times for 41 yards and 2 TDs.
Braedyn McGlone not only ran the ball, he also completed an 8-yard TD pass to Julian Puente. Puente would catch 6 passes for 43 yards and 1 TD.
McGlone was not just a beast on the offensive side, he also helped lead the defense with 11 tackles, including 5 tackles for loss. Travis Applegate had 11 tackles, including 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss. In total the defensive unit recorded 14 tackles for loss, including 4 sacks.
Braedyn McGlone’s efforts would earn him the D&D Sports Player of the Week award.
At the time of this writing, no individual stats were available for Bath County.
Lewis County (2-3) will host Fleming County (3-2) this coming Friday, September 29th. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
