Frye, Brinegar lead Scott past Chapmanville

It was an impressive first half for the Scott Skyhawks as they cruised to a 40-7 victory against Chapmanville on Friday night from Barker Stadium in Chapmanville, WV. Matt Frye and Carson Brinegar showed off their impressive skills on offense as Frye was 19 of 26 for 378 yards and 5 TDs through the air, including 1 TD on the ground. Brinegar, Frye’s favorite target, used his speed to separate from Chapmanville defenders all night long as he finished with 9 receptions for 173 yards and 3 TDs on the night. It was also career night for Kevin McCarty who caught his first touchdown pass in a Skyhawk uniform. McCarty finished the night with 3 catches for 134 yards and 1 TD.

The Skyhawks led 40-0 at halftime, but Chapmanville never quit. The Tigers took the opening drive of the 2nd half and found the endzone as Andrew Topping scored from three yards out. That was all the scoring though as both defenses buckled down and played well in the second half.

With the win, Scott moves to 5-0 on the season and have a big game this Friday night against Mingo Central who also moved to 5-0 on the season with their impressive win against Independence. The matchup in West Madison should be one of the biggest games of the year for the southern West Virginia area.

Chapmanville falls to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Herbert Hoover to take on Joey Fields’s Huskies who are also 3-2 on the season. D&D Sports Network will have exclusive coverage of the Chapmanville and Herbert Hoover matchup on Friday night starting at 6:50 PM.
