Monday Night on the pitch, Mingo Central came into the game hoping to end the 4 game losing streak that started against Bluefield. Scott was 1-6 at the time and the Miners saw it as a perfect opportunity to get another one in the win column, and that’s exactly what they did. Scott didn’t go down easy though, this game was close up until the very end.
The game kicked off on Miner Mountain and within a few minutes, Scott earned a penalty kick from a hand ball inside the box. They ended up putting the first goal in the net and it wasn’t long until Kendan Trent matched that point with a quick pair of goals with one being assisted by Tyler Coleman in the first half to take the lead 2-1.
The second half was pretty even between Mingo Central and Scott, the game ended with Scott scoring one more goal in the opening minutes of the half and Bella Hall nailing her first goal of the season in the closing minutes. Hall was one of the additions to the Miners when the team went co-ed and ever since than she has performed very well and now is in the scorebook with her first goal of the season.
Mason Hatfield was able to rack up 15 saves on goal in another impressive outing from him. He was a big reason the Miners were able to break their losing streak against Scott and take home the win. Brody Dotson, Rafael Lopez, Caden Porter and Jacob Blankenship also did a very good job keeping the ball In play for the offense to take advantage of.
Offensively, four players took shots this game, Trent had a hat trick with 3 goals on 9 shots. This was his 3rd hat trick of the season. Blake Stacy had 7 shots, Coleman had 2 shots and 2 assists and Hall had 2 shots and 1 goal.
Coach Rawls said, “Feels great! Especially with it being at home. Our facility is the best in the state. Nothing like getting a win on the mountain in front of your fans!” In regard to being able to snap their losing streak against Scott.
Rawls also bragged on Coleman after the game.
”Tyler has never played soccer, comes out the 7th game of the season and has 2 assists and 2 shots on goal, he stated.”
Mingo Central now advances to 3-4 on the season and looks to get a win over James Monroe this Saturday. Scott falls to 1-7 and will be facing Nitro at home trying to get back on the win column.
