Friday, September 22nd, the battle of Carter County will take place between East Carter and West Carter. Two schools separated by 15 miles will face off in a battle of two county schools.
The East Carter Raiders (2-2) are looking to bounce back after their loss to Greenup County two weeks ago.
The West Carter Comets (1-3) are coming off their 1st win of the season after defeating Powell County last week.
Both teams are looking to get a win in their district matchup.
West Carter was able to get the best of East Carter in 2021. East Carter was able to get revenge and win the battle of Carter County in 2022. This year the battle will take place at East Carter High School.
East Carter is led by QB, Quentin Johnson. Mr. Johnson has completed 46 of 71 passes for 599 yards and 6 TDs. He is averaging 149.8 yards per game passing. Raiders’ tailback, Landon Yoak is averaging 86.8 yards per game and has 6 TDs on the season. The Raiders’ offense is averaging 149.8 yards per game through the air and 184.5 yards per game on the ground. East Carter is averaging 31.2 points per game, while allowing 25.5 points per game.
West Carter is led by tailback, Dwaylon Dean. Dwaylon is averaging 172.2 yards per game on the ground and has 10 TDs on the season. The Comets’ QB, Hayden Hall has completed 25 of 56 passes for 427 yards and 2 TDs. The West Carter offense is averaging 106.8 yards per game through the air, and 185.5 yards per game on the ground. The Raiders are averaging 27 points per game, while allowing 22.5 points per game.
Bragging rights will be on the line this coming Friday night.
