The Matewan Tigers moved to 3-0 on the season with a 24-6 homecoming win over the Gilbert Lions on Tuesday in Middle School football action.
The Tigers were led by Xavier Sartin with 147 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing. Peyton Parker had 97 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing. Scott Edie finished with 69 yards rushing.
Parker and Sartin had 14 tackles each to lead the Tigers. Edie Followed with 8 tackles. Daniel Bryant added 5 tackles.
Parker, Edie and McKinley Varney all recovered 1 fumble each.
Matewan is now in first place in Mingo County and will play next Thursday, September 21, on the road at Williamson.
