Tug Valley Hammers Vikings, 51-8

Bryson Elia scored 5 total touchdowns as the Tug Valley Panthers scorched the visiting Symmes Valley, OH Vikings, 51-8, on Friday at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck.

The Panthers (2-1) got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when freshman quarterback Preston May connected with Elia for an 8-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead. Later in the quarter, May connected with Elia again for a 17-yard touchdown pass. Aiden Bosserman’s PAT kick made it a 13-0 lead. May then threw his third touchdown pass of the opening quarter when he connected with Buddy Marcum for a 1-yard touchdown and at 19-0 advantage.

Tug Valley added to its lead in the second period when Elia raced down the field for a 48-yard touchdown run to make it a 25-0 Panther lead. Elia added another score later in the quarter when he found the end zone on an 8-yard run. Bosserman’s PAT kick made it 32-0. The Panthers’ final score of the first half came when May hit Marcum on a 35-yard scoring strike to make it 38-0 at the half.

Elia started off the scoring in the second half when he found the end zone on a 45-yard run to make it 44-0. The Panthers’ final score came later in the frame when quarterback Jaxon Nenni-Mills connected with Ashton Davis for a 10-yard touchdown. Bosserman’s PAT kick made it 51-0.

Symmes Valley (1-3) scored its only touchdown when Will Jones scored on a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter. He also added the 2-point conversion for the 51-8 final score.

May completed 17-of-24 passes for 184 yards and 4 touchdowns. Nenni-Mills completed 4-of-8 passes for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.

Elia led the Panthers on the ground with 129 yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 rushing attempts. May followed with 39 yards on 3 carries. Nenni-Mills had 24 yards on 4 carries. Austin Smith had 2 carries for 8 yards. Adam Slone added 5 yards on 2 rushing attempts. Cane Thompson finished with 1 carry for 4 yards.

Elia also led Tug Valley in receiving with 8 catches for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marcum followed with 3 catches for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. Davis tallied 5 catches for 36 yards and 1 touchdown. Brady Brewer hauled in 1 catch for 23 yards. Thompson had 2 receptions for 16 yards. Cameron Slone finished with 2 catches for 13 yards.

Tug Valley will hit the road next week with a clash against the East Ridge Warriors. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm on Friday.
