The Belfry Pirates hope to build off last week’s big win over Johnson Central as they face the Southwestern Warriors on Friday at Belfry.
The Pirates (2-1) are coming in after an impressive and dominant win over Johnson Central, 48-20, and are led by the dynamic backfield duo of Caden Woolum and Ace Caudill.
Woolum has 357 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns on 27 carries. He also has hauled in 8 passes for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns. Caudill has 25 carries for 330 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. He’s also tallied 3 catches for 97 yards and and 1 touchdown.
Quarterback Chase Varney will run the Pirate offense. So far this season, Varney has completed 13-of-24 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns.
For Southwestern (0-2), Collin Burton will helm the Warrior offense. This season, he has completed 24-of-36 passes for 339 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also has 1 rushing touchdown.
Christian Walden is Southwestern’s leading rusher with 154 yards and 3 touchdowns on 26 carries. Caden Cunnagin is the team’s top receiver with 9 catches for 153 yards and 1 touchdown.
This will be a big test for the 3A Pirates as they battle the 5A Warriors. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm in Belfry.
