The Mingo Central Miners got a 5 touchdown performance from Chris Ross as they throttled the Westside Renegades, 61-6, on Friday up on Miner Mountain.
Ross completed 13-of-19 passes for 346 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Miners (2-2).
Aidan Burke was the Miners’ top receiver with 5 catches for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. Malaki Sheppard had 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sheppard also had an electrifying fumble recovery that he took the length of the field for a defensive touchdown in the second quarter. Dylan Vance hauled in 1 pass for 68 yards and 1 touchdown. Donavon Valdelamar hauled in 1 catch for 12 yards. Alex Muncy added 1 catch for 7 yards. Tyler Mitchem finished with 1 catch for 5 yards.
In the run game, Keziah Joplin had 4 carries for 20 yards and 1 touchdown. Vance had 3 carries for 15 yards. Amanti Lovett added 2 carries for 2 yards and 1 touchdown. Brennon Harrison added 3 yards on 1 carry.
For Westside (1-1), Kadien Vance completed 14-of-26 passes for 111 yards and 1 interception. Ethan Walls completed 1-of-3 passes for 7 yards.
Owen Hamon led Westside in rushing with 57 yards on 16 carries. Ethan Walls had 5 rushing attempts for 46 yards and 1 touchdown. Parker Lambert also had 46 yards on 5 carries. Shawn Hash added 5 carries for 13 yards.
Colton Lester had 3 catches for 64 yards. Jordan Elswick had 22 yards on 5 receptions. Kyler Kenneda had 3 catches for 18 yards. Hamon added 3 catches for 7 yards. Jody Zou finished with 7 yards on 1 reception.
The Miners will now hit the road to face Liberty-Raleigh (1-1) at 7 pm on Friday.
The Renegades will have their home opener on Friday against Man (2-0) at 7:30 pm.
