Wildcats Fall To Bobcats

The Bath County Wildcats looked to maintain momentum after their season-opening win overFairview as they traveled to Betsy Layne to take on the Bobcats. Betsy Layne was coming off avery impressive victory over Berea 37-0 in the Clark County Bowl. With both teams at 1-0 onthe season, only one would improve to 2-0.

The Bobcats of Betsy Layne proved to be too much for the Wildcats with a 47-8 victory. The Wildcats would struggle offensively. Carter Hart would carry the ball 12 times for 71 yards.Parker Crouch had two carries for 19 yards. Walker Karrick had 3 carries for 18 yards. Nathan Tripp would rush 4 times for 14 yards. Zachary Hardin had 2 carries for 10 yards. Cole Hart would go 0-1 through the air, rushed 12 times for 8 yards. Alan Bowling would score the lone TD for the Wildcats with a kickoff return for a TD. Charles Wilson would convert the 2-point conversion.

Defensively Bath County was led by Cole Hart’s 12 tackles. Carter Hart had 10 tackles. Betsy Layne QB, Carter Parsons, completed 4 of 6 passes for 111 yards and 1 TD. Andrew McCutcheon would carry the ball 15 times for 139 yards and 3 TDs. Dylon Williams carried the ball 12 times for 110 yards and 2 TDs. Landon Howell carried the ball 4 times for 42 yards and 1 TD. Isaiah Allen had 2 receptions for 46 yards. Landon Howell had 1 reception for 43 yards. Dylon Williams had 1 reception for 33 yards. Andrew McCutcheon had 1 reception for 32 yard sand 1 TD. Defensively the Bobcats were led by Ryan Bradford with 8 tackles in the win. Andrew McCutcheon, Tye Isom, Brady Maynard, and Mitchell Castle each had 6 tackles apiece. Payton Maynard had 5 tackles and 1 sack. Braxton Blackburn had 5 tackles and 1 sack in the win.

Bath County (1-1) will look to bounce back as they host Rowan County (0-2) on Friday,September 1st for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Betsy Layne (2-0) will look to continue their winning ways when they host Fairview in the Dr.Mike Goble Bowl, on Thursday, August 31st, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Best of luck to both teams next week!
