On Friday Night, the D&D Sports Network broadcast their first game at Perry Central since they have added the 14th Region to the coverage area. The Football gods didn’t make things easy for the D&D crew. A hellacious thunderstorm blew the broadcast crew’s tent off the roof of the press box, ultimately pushing kickoff back to 9:40 pm. Once the game got started we got to see one of the best football games of the early season, Breathitt County led by O-lineman Evan Miller would show why they are one of the best programs in the Mountain and Commodore quarterback Kizer Slone proved his critics wrong, showing why he is the 5th ranked quarterback in the Mountains.
In the end, the Commodores (2-2) were able to pick up a 29-26 win in a back and forth contest.
Slone guided the Commodore offense all night. He completed 8-of-15 passes for 166 yards while adding 2 carries for 2 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
Seth Jackson was a workhorse in the backfield with 20 rushing attempts for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Colin Combs had 54 yards on 8 carries.
Noah Kilburn led all receivers with 4 catches for 119 yards. Tyler Smith followed with 3 receptions for 40 yards. Derrick Fields added 1 reception for 7 yards.
Defensively, Phoenix Eddington had 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Nolan Wooton added 10 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.
For the Bobcats (0-2), Dillon Stacy completed 6-of-12 passes for 75 yards and 1 touchdown. Aaron Johnson completed his only pass for 18 yards.
Jayden Gibson led all rushers with 108 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries. Isaac Turner had 18 yards and 1 touchdown on 5 carries. Kory Combs added 2 rushing attempts for 11 yards. John Hollon had 11 yards on 1 carry. Stacy added 8 yards on 5 carries. Brayden Barnett carried the ball once for 6 yards.
Hollon led all Breathitt County receivers with 2 catches for 49 yards and 1 touchdown. Turner had 2 receptions for 18 yards. Brady Tincher added 1 catch for 10 yards. Combs had a catch for 9 yards. Gibson finished with 7 yards on 1 catch.
On defense, Combs had 9 tackles, including 1 tackle for a loss. Barnett had 7 tackles and 1 interception.
Perry County Central will play at Lawrence County (1-1) on Friday at 7:30 pm.
The Bobcats will host Lewis County (1-1) on Friday at 7:30 pm.
