The Belfry Pirates fell to the visiting George Rogers Clark Cardinals in the Pike County Bowl on Friday night at Belfry.
For the Pirates (1-1), Caden Woolum had another strong game, rushing for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 carries. He also caught 5 passes for 52 yards.
Ace Caudill had 10 carries for 89 yards. Dre Young had 55 yards and 1 touchdown on 7 rushing attempts. Jeremiah Austin had 8 carries for 32 yards and 1 touchdown.
Chase Varney was solid at quarterback, completing 7-of-15 passes for 74 yards. He also had 6 yards rushing on 4 carries.
Varney also completed a pass to Ace Caudill for 18 yards and a pass to Eli Caudill for 4 yards.
Defensively, Koy Queen led the way with 10 tackles and 2 sacks.
The Cardinals (1-1) were led by Sam Clements who completed 15-of-22 passes for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 75 yards rushing and an additional touchdown.
Belfry will next play on Friday when it hosts Johnson Central (1-1) in a huge clash. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm.
