The Fleming County Panthers coming off an opening season win on the road, would look to stay undefeated in their home opener. The Nicholas County Blue Jackets were 1-0 on the season as well, after defeating Lewis County last week. Only one team would remain undefeated in the young season. The Panthers proved to be too much for the Blue Jackets, with a convincing win, 54-12.
Fleming County would rack up 447 yards of total offense. QB Nate Ruark would complete 11 of 15 passes for 272 yards and 4 TDs. Nate would hook up with Landon Johnson 5 times through the air, for 142 yards, and Landon would pull in 3 TD catches. Jordan Harn would run the ball 6 times for 126 yards and 2 TDs. Jordan also caught 4 passes for 63 yards and a TD through the air. Evan Conley had 1 reception for 41 yards and 1 TD. Owen Lowe got in on the action at QB and completed 1 of 2 passes for 41 yards and 1 TD. Parker Sills would go 4 of 6 in his PAT attempts.
The Panthers were led defensively by Isaac Frye who recorded 12 tackles in the game, including 2 tackles for loss. Aiden Johnson had 7 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss. Johnathon Hickerson and Austin Trent both had 4 tackles, and each had 2 tackles for loss. Johnathon Hickerson also had a sack in the game. The Panthers’ defense as a unit would record 11 tackles for loss, recover a fumble, and record 2 interceptions. Landon Johnson and Jordan Harn would each grab an interception in the win.
Fleming County improves to 2-0 and looks to stay perfect on the season when they travel to Mason County (1-1) on Friday, September 1st, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
