Lackey Tosses No-Hitter As Logan Little League Softball Defeats South Carolina In Southeast Region Tournament

Emma Lackey pitched a no-hitter and the Logan bats were on fire as the Logan Little League Softball squad hammered South Carolina, 11-1, on Tuesday in the Southeast Region Tournament in Warner Robins, GA.

The win moved Logan to 1-1 in the tournament after a tough 3-1 loss to Tennessee on Monday. With the loss South Carolina was eliminated from the tournament.

Logan jumped on the board with 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Lilly Fleming scored first on a ground out to make it 1-0. Lackey then doubled down the left field line to score Miley Fleming for a 2-0 lead. Zoe Chaney then singled to bring home Lackey. Katie Hall scored on an error on the same play to make it a 4-0 advantage. Chaney then scored on an error to make it a 5-0 lead. Mollie Barnette then singled to right field. A South Carolina error on the play allowed Kristi Dress to score the final run of the inning.

Logan then scored a run in the top of the 2nd inning when Addison Starr scored on a dropped third strike for a 7-0 advantage.

Lackey scored on a passed ball in the top of the 3rd inning to make it an 8-0 lead. Then, Addison Dotson doubled to left field to bring home Hall for a 9-0 advantage. Dotson came home to score after a Chaney single for a 10 lead. Barnette then singled to center field to score Chaney to make it 11-0.

South Carolina scored in the bottom of the 3rd inning without getting a hit to make it 11-1, but the game was stopped after 4 innings due to mercy rule.

Lackey was dominant in the pitcher’s circle all game, allowing no hits while recording 7 strikeouts and only walking 2 batters.

Logan will now face Georgia in an elimination game on Wednesday at 2 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
