Logan Little League 10-12 Softball All-Stars Defeat Boone Northern; Lackey Wins Home Run Derby

The Logan Little League 10-12 Softball All-Stars scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as hammered Boone Northern, 7-0, on Friday in its opening game of the West Virginia Little League 10-12 Softball Tournament in Barboursville.

Emma Lackey lead Logan at the plate by batting 2-of-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 1 run scored, Miley Fleming had a double, 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Ayla Vance added a double with 1 run scored. Lilly Vance had a single with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Addison Dotson added a single with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Riley Miller had a single and 1 RBI. Lena Setser and Kristi Dress each had a single and 1 run scored. Katie Hall and Zoe Chaney both added singles.

Chaney also picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle, allowing only two hits while striking out eight batters over five innings pitched. Lackey struck out 3 batters and allowed no hits in her only inning pitched.

Lackey also smacked 25 home runs over two rounds to win the West Virginia State Major Softball Tournament Home Run Derby.

Logan will next play on Saturday when it faces Grant at 1 pm. Grant defeated Beckley, 16-4, on Friday.
