The Pike County Central Hawks went 4-1 and won the consolation bracket at the Super 64 Tournament.
The Hawks had a magnificent showing in the event, including a win over Lexington Christian.
“The Mountains really represented well,” said Pike County Central assistant head coach Aaron Rigdon. “We won the championship of the consolation bracket and went 4-1 in the tournament. That last game (Lexington Christian) our kids fought and played with passion on the biggest stage they ever have.”
First, the Hawks hammered Henry County. Then, they fell to one of the top teams in the state in Lexington Catholic. They then pulled out a close win over Letcher Central. Pike County Central pulled out a win over Larue County next before playing Lexington Catholic.
At one point, the Hawks led by 20 points and never trailed. Ultimately, they pulled out a double digit victory to capture the consolation bracket. Jaylan Rigdon had 26 points to lead the Hawks in that game.
“Overall, we went to the most prestigious summer tournament with the best teams in the state,” said Aaron Rigdon. You had Notre Dame, Purdue, EKU, WKU, Morehead State, West Virginia and Michigan State. Tom Izzo was there.”
