Lady Eagles Fall To Rowan County In State Quarterfinals

The Johnson Central Lady Golden Eagles lost in the bottom of the 7th inning to Rowan County, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare at John Cropp Stadium on Saturday.

Johnson Central took the lead in the top of the 1st inning when Adyson Burchett scored on a ground out to make it 1-0. Rowan County tied it in the bottom of the 2nd inning and then took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 3-1.

The Lady Golden Eagles scored 2 runs to tie it at 3-3 in the top of the 5th inning. First, Burchett singled to center field, scoring Abbie Stambaugh. Then, Mayson Delong scored on an error to tie the game at 3-3.

Neither team could muster a run until the bottom of the 7th inning when Rowan County plated the winning run with 1 out.

Johnson Central finishes its season at 28-10.
